Just recently announced, the Winter Solstice Concert Series will once again be heading to the Yellow Cab Tavern. Featuring four nights of music, the concert series will be taking place from December 19th to December 22nd.
Thursday, December 19th
Kicking off the Winter Solstice Concert Series is an event not like that commonly seen in the area. Thursday night December 19th the local band, The Big Wazu, will be hosting live band karaoke. The Big Wazu is made up of some of Dayton's most experienced local musicians and they will be giving you a chance to relive some of your favorite songs. In other words, this is a rare opportunity for karaoke lovers to ditch the jukebox and sing alongside some of Dayton's top rockers.
Friday, December 20th
For the second night of the Winter Solstice Concert series local musicians Amber Hargett, Patrick Himes, and others are bringing a night of holiday fun to the Yellow Cab. For this event, dubbed Sounds of the Season, some of Dayton's top musicians will featuring holiday favorites from every era.
Saturday, December 21st
Next up in the Winter Solstice Concert Series is the local favorite among Deadheads and string band fans, The Great Northern String Band. As a fully acoustic Grateful Dead band, the band explores the many sounds of the Grateful Dead in a way that highlights the influence of traditional American music on the songs of the Grateful Dead. For this reason, anytime The Great Northern String Band performs it is a must-see event.
Sunday, December 22nd
The last of the four straight nights of music during the Winter Solstice Concert Series is Main Street Howl. Made up of prominent area rockers, Main Street Howl will be bringing the music of Bruce Springsteen to the stage. In case you were wondering, The New Old-Fashioned's David Payne will be stepping into the shoes of the boss.
